Shilpa, who long ago took the health and wellness route, has long been an advocate for organic food. We all know that a healthy, balanced diet is part of Shilpa’s lifestyle, and so is fruit picking. In today’s edition, she shared about her obsession alongside a fun video.
“So I couldn’t resist and went ‘picking fruit’ in my garden yesterday,” the actress said. She added: “It’s amazing when you plant with your own hands and it grows into a tree and bears fruit, there’s nothing like that feeling.”
What fruit did she pick? star fruits. The superfood is known as Carambola or ‘Kamrakh’ in Hindi. Shilpa revealed that starfruit is a source of vitamin C and boosts the immune system. Pro tip? Sprinkle pink salt to make it taste better. The yoga and fitness enthusiast also urged those suffering from kidney-related ailments to avoid the fruit.
Shilpa asked her fans, “What is this fruit called in your native language?”
The benefits of pesticide-free fruits and vegetables are twofold if you can grow the plants yourself like Shilpa. Organic foods are better for the environment and can be a better source of nutrients, such as Omega 3.
