Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed on Sunday that Congress had visited MP Gaurav Gogoi Pakistan at an invitation of the country's intelligence service, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

During an official event, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke with an official event that Congress Member of Congress did not travel to Pakistan for tourism, but to get a training under the direct invitation of Pakistan's domestic department.
CM Sarma said: “Gaurav Gogoi had gone to Pakistan at the invitation of ISI. For the first time I want to say he went to Pakistan at the invitation of ISI. We have that document. He went there to get training.”

Himanta also claimed that Gogoi worked closely with the Pakistani establishment during his visit.
The Assam CM distinguished this from invitations issued by Foreign Affairs or Cultural departments of Pakistan, and insisted that Gogoi's visit was specifically punished by the home department, which he described as 'dangerous'.
The main minister warned that the “paths of Gaurav Gogoi have been closed” and that the government has already seen the evidence, but needs time to obtain the official documents through diplomatic channels.
CM Himanta Sarma also insisted on the public to await official disclosure and apart from further comments to the deadline.
Assam Government promises proof by September 10
CM Himanta Sarma said that the Assam government owns the evidence of the Assam to support these allegations and promised to publicly make the evidence public after the correct verification.

Sarma defended the position of the BJP and claimed that if a BJP leader had similar ties, rapid action would be taken.
