The committee at a meeting on November 9 adopted its report recommending the expulsion of Mahua Moitra from the Lok Sabha over the “cash-for-query” charge.
Six members of the panel voted in favor of the report, including Congresswoman Preneet Kaur, who was earlier suspended from the party. Four members of the opposition party panel filed dissenting opinions.
Calling the report a “fixed match”, the Opposition members said the complaint filed by BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey, which was considered by the panel, was not supported by a “sliver of evidence”.
Mahua Moitra can only be deported if the House of Representatives votes in favor of the panel's recommendation.
The winter session of parliament starts on Monday and is expected to last until December 22.

In response, Mahua Moitra dismissed the decision as a “pre-ordained contest by a kangaroo court” and deemed it a “death of parliamentary democracy”.
