KL Rahul had an unforgettable stint as stand-in captain of the Indian team in the three-day one-day international series against South Africa, which ended with a 0-3 whitewash for the tourists. Rahul had also led India in the second Test match in Johannesburg after Virat Kohli withdrew due to injury and the team also lost that match. Although head coach Rahul Dravid has supported KL Rahul for leading the team at a time when some key players are missing, there are many former Indian cricketers who are not very happy with his captaincy.
Rahul spoke about the lessons he learned from the series in South Africa during an interview with India Today. He shared how the team plans to change its approach to white ball cricket, focusing on the upcoming World Cups in ODIs and T20Is. .
“We are now in a phase where we are focusing on World Cups and we are working towards certain things. We are working to get better as a team and to work. We have played very good cricket for the last four or five years but I think that it’s time for us to get better and transform our white ball cricket that was the chat and we want to work on certain things.
“I don’t want to use that as an excuse not to win, but we are a work in progress as a team and for me it was my first time leading. It was great to be honest because you learn so much from losing. Losing makes you stronger than starting with victories,” Rahul said.
