Modi 3.0 Cabinet: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anurag Thakur won from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency for the fifth time in a row in 2024. Thakur had the dual responsibility of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in Modi 2.0 cabinet. However, he was dropped in the Modi 3.0 cabinet.

Who replaced Anurag Thakur in the Modi 3.0 cabinet?
One of Anurag Thakur's portfolios in the Modi 2.0 cabinet was Youth Affairs and Sports. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, who held the healthcare portfolio in the previous BJP-led NDA government, will be Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet 3.0.
Anurag Thakur's second portfolio was the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Ashwini Vaishnaw not only retained his previous portfolios of Railways and that of Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, but was also given new responsibility as Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the third term of the Modi government.
How did Anurag Thakur react when he was ousted?
Five times, Lok Sabha MP from Harimpur, Anurag Thakur, in his first reaction after not finding a place in the Cabinet, said: “I extend my best wishes and congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third term in office and my warmest wishes to all his ministers and may they do a great job and move the country forward in the next five years.”
Modi 3.0 cabinet: who has what?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured continuity in his new government by keeping Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar at the helm of the crucial ministries of Home, Defence, Finance and External Affairs respectively. These four ministers also form the crucial Cabinet Committee on Security, which operates under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
Adding to the continuity, the Union Cabinet welcomed new faces, with former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan securing the Agriculture and Rural Development portfolios. Meanwhile, BJP president JP Nadda returned to the health ministry, a role he previously held during Modi's first term before taking up leadership positions within the BJP.
Of the five members of the BJP's allies in the Union Cabinet, HD Kumaraswamy of JD (Secular) has heavy industries and steel ministries, Jitan Ram Manjhi (HAM-Secular) has the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Lalan Singh (Janata Dal-United) Panchayati Raj, Ministries of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Sector.
