Wi-Fi connectivity is a huge part of our lives and the ecosystem continues to evolve and evolve with the changing needs of consumers. The next-in-line Wi-Fi 7-generation standard is already among us, and pretty soon users will be able to reap its benefits through products like routers that we deploy in our homes. So, what is Wi-Fi 7, how is it different from existing Wi-Fi standards, and when will you get it? These are some of the questions we want to explain here.
WHAT IS WI-FI 7: TOP SPEED AND MORE
Wi-Fi 7 is the next major wireless standard to be adopted by the industry. It is based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and offers speeds of up to 30 Gbps for enhanced usage scenarios that will become mainstream in the near future. Compare this to the 9.6 Gbps bandwidth currently available over Wi-Fi 6 standard, the threefold increase will boost the use of advanced technology such as 8K video content, Augmented Reality, cloud computing and provide the best online gaming experience.

HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM CURRENT WI-FI 6E STANDARD?
Wi-Fi 7 is the next-generation connectivity standard, while Wi-Fi 6E is the enhanced version of Wi-Fi 6 with the ability to deliver consistent performance wherever other Wi-Fi networks and multiple devices are connected to the Internet. Wi-Fi 7 is 40 percent faster, but still gives you better power output. With Wi-Fi 6E you can support up to 8 data streams simultaneously. While Wi-Fi 7 doubles the number to give you support for up to 16 data streams.
WI-FI 6 VERSUS WI-FI 6TH VS WI-FI 7: WHAT ARE THE BASIC DIFFERENCES
Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E are closely related in terms of the technology, features and benefits offered. You get bandwidth speeds of up to 9.6 Gbps that operate within the existing 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands. Compared to these two, Wi-Fi 7 relies on Multi-Link Operation (MLO) functions to combine different frequencies and provide stable network performance. The industry is making sure that the next Wi-Fi standard is a major upgrade from the previous standards needed to handle today’s demanding applications running on devices.

WHEN COMING WI-FI 7
With all this talk and enthusiasm about Wi-Fi 7, you may be intrigued by its availability. It turns out that Wi-Fi 7 has yet to clear the industry process, and it probably won’t before 2024. Only then will router makers begin to adopt and integrate the new Wi-Fi standard into their end-consumer products.

HOW TO GET WI-FI 7
The good thing about Wi-Fi 7 is that it supports older frequency ranges up to 6GHz. So if you have a router that supports Wi-Fi 6E, you don’t need to upgrade. Your Wi-Fi 6E router probably supports Wi-Fi 7 due to firmware upgrades from the device manufacturer.
