Work on the country’s new National Cricket Academy (NCA) has begun with the BCCI brass, including President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah, who laid the foundation stone of the complex on Monday. The BCCI has secured the land on a 99-year lease. “The new National Cricket Academy starts from today… the foundation stone of the new site today in Bengaluru,” Ganguly tweeted, also sharing images of the ceremony.
Shah wrote on his Twitter handle: “The foundation stone has been laid for @BCCI’s new NCA. It is our collective vision to have a Center of Excellence that nurtures talent and supports the cricket ecosystem in India.” The foundation stone was laid in the presence of BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla, Treasurer Arun Dhumal, Co-Secretary Jayesh George and NBA Head VVS Laxman.
Since the existing NCA’s inception in 2000, it has been running from the buildings of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the heart of the city.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), which owns the stadium, had leased the BCCI Ground B for outdoor training, in addition to an indoor practice facility, and a separate room for a modern gymnasium.
The new facility, which is expected to be completed in a year, will have three courts for domestic competitions.
