Gaza Strip:
At least 4,137 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since Israel began bombing the Palestinian enclave, the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry said on Friday.
The ministry said another 13,162 people were injured in the Israeli attacks, which have been ongoing since October 7.
The dead included 16 people who died late Thursday on the grounds of the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Porphyry in Gaza City, the ministry said.
About 500 people had taken refuge in the church, including five members of Caritas staff, along with their families, NGO Caritas Internationalis said in a statement.
“We were devastated to hear of the death of our colleague Viola, 26 years old, who was killed along with her husband and their infant daughter” during the strike, the NGO said in a statement.
At least 17 people were said to have been killed and others were still buried under the rubble.
Witnesses told AFP that the attack appeared to target a target close to the place of worship where many Gazans had taken refuge as war raged in the Palestinian enclave.
The army said its fighter jets hit a Hamas “command and control center” involved in firing rockets into Israel.
“As a result of the strike, a wall of a church in the area was damaged.
The Hamas Health Ministry also said that 46 medical personnel had been killed and another 85 injured in the enclave since the conflict broke out.
Twenty-one health facilities were out of service due to a lack of fuel, it added.
Palestinians in Gaza are still waiting for humanitarian aid to enter Gaza from Egypt through the Rafah crossing.
The war in Gaza began after Hamas launched a deadly attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing more than 1,400 people, mostly civilians, on Israeli soil.
