An officer of the New York police (NYPD) involved in the program “Police Defending Travelers” of the Department was arrested and accused of an attempt to have a sexual conversation with an undercover agent whom he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
Travis Desouza, 35, assigned to the 75th district in Brooklyn, was taken into custody for alleged sexing of an undercover police officer who occurred as a young girl from the program, the NY Post reported.
Desouza, a 13-year-old veteran of the NYPD, was accused on Thursday of children's threat to send sexually explicit content to an undercover agent, said civil servants.
In Brooklyn he was accused of first degree attempt to spread explicit content for minors, third -degree attempt to threaten the well -being of a child and third -degree obscenity, the report added.
In October the actions of Desouza were examined while working with the Police Explorers program, which prepares young people interested in law enforcement between the ages of 14 and 20.
According to the complaint, under the guise of a young participant in the Police Explorers program, an adult undercover agent Desouza approached and asked for his telephone number.
Officials said that Desouza openly acknowledged that she was a minor and yet continued with explicit sexual progress and insinuations through texts and social media.
According to the court case, the officer also sent the “teenage girl” a photo of himself in boxer Shorts with an erection.
“And I don't know, even why you made me think things that I shouldn't do because of how far we are old, I should tell you to stop …” DESOUZZA reportedly wrote in a Snapchat message to the undercover agent.

On Thursday, the NYPD announced that officer Desouza was set unpaid leave.
The charges against him include third -degree obscenity, official misconduct, attempt to endanger the well -being of a child, and first degree attempt to publish indecent material to children in Queens Court.
According to judicial documents, the former police officer was released on Thursday without placing a bail.
