An anonymous bidder has paid a record $19 million for a private lunch with legendary investor Warren Buffet.
According to DailyExpertNews, the sale was part of the 21st and final time the billionaire businessman auctioned off a private lunch, in partnership with eBay, for the benefit of a San Francisco-based charity. Bidding began on June 12 for $25,000 and ended on Friday last week with a record $19,000,000 from an anonymous bidder.
Proceeds now benefit Glide, a nonprofit organization in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district that helps homeless people or substance abusers. Glide offers meals, lodging, drug testing, job training, and more.

According to the outlet, the mystery winner will enjoy a private steak lunch with Mr. Buffett, the chairman and chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway, and up to seven guests at Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse in New York City.
Specifically, this is the last year of the “Power Lunch” with Mr. Buffet. The auction was first started by the late Susie Buffett in 2000. eBay has been running the auction since 2003, DailyExpertNews reported.

Friday’s winning bid far surpassed the previous record $4.57 million paid in 2019 by cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun. Mr. Buffet has raised more than $53.2 million for Glide in 21 auctions.
