Anthropic said on Wednesday that it is planning to open his first office in India and thereby enter a market where the use of artificial intelligence is growing and his rival OpenAi is already making progress.
The AmazonThe AI company supported by AI, worth $ 183 billion, said that it intends to open an office in Bengaluru in early 2026. It will be after Tokyo, Japan, the second office of the company in Asia.
Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, is visiting India this week to meet civil servants and business partners, according to the company.
It is expected that the adoption of AI among both consumers and companies will soon increase in India. According to the Boston Consulting Group, more than 90% of employees in the region already use AI, which means the highest adoption in the world.
“India is attractive because of the size of its technical talent and the use of the Indian government to ensure that the benefits of artificial intelligence reach all parts of society, and not only concentrated groups,” Amodei said in a press release.
Anthropic said that the focus in India will be on the use of AI for 'social impact' in sectors such as education and health care, and on 'supporting important industries through strategic partnerships'.
Claude is the most important product of Anthropic and the challenger of OpenAi. Anthropic said it would launch “improved performance” in Hindi for Claude, as well as for almost a dozen other languages spoken in India. Anthropic said that India is currently in second place in terms of claude use, behind the US
The expansion of the company to India comes when Rival OpenAi has performed its activities in the country this year. OpenAI has launched a cheap subscription for its flagship Chatgpt product and is reportedly also planning to open an office in the country.
Anthropic, however, still catches up. Claude was downloaded 118,000 times in India in August, compared to 10.3 million chatgpt downloads and 6.4 million from perplexity, according to analysis agency App figures.
The India Push is part of a broader global expansion plan for Anthropic, because it makes its international workforce grow and wants to attract more business customers.
