Brad Pitt has recently claimed that he may be suffering from “undiagnosed face blindness”, which makes it difficult for him to “remember people” after meeting them at social parties. The 58-year-old Hollywood star opened up in an interview about his possible medical condition and the impact it could have on his reputation. GQ†
The Mr and Mrs Smith actor has never been formally diagnosed with prosopagnosia – a condition where you cannot recognize people’s faces. But he revealed that he has trouble remembering new people and recognizing their faces, especially in social situations like parties.
This limitation worries Mr. Pitt. Speaking to the outlet, he said he believes his condition could negatively affect those he meets and give him a reputation for being “secluded and aloof, inaccessible, self-centered”. Nevertheless, Mr. Pitt stated that he is not aloof, but that he wants to remember the people he meets and is “ashamed” if he cannot.

According to the Independent, the National Health Service (NHS) states that developmental prosopagnosia, which affects individuals who have not suffered brain damage, can affect as many as one in 50 people. The condition often affects people from birth and usually remains a problem for life. A brain injury or stroke can also lead to the development of prosopagnosia, with this condition characterized as acquired prosopagnosia.
Speak with GQ, Mr. Pitt acknowledged that “no one believes him” when discussing his possible medical condition. “Nobody believes me!” he said, adding that he wants to meet another person who suffers from the condition.
The actor also revealed that he suffered from “low-grade depression” for years and only recently discovered joy. According to him, the change is partly due to a “bigger embrace” from his friends and family.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Brad Pitt has spoken publicly about his inability to recognize faces. In 2013, the actor had said that “so many” people “hate” him because they assume he deliberately “disrespects” them.
