A man in Norway has filed a complaint against artificial intelligence chatbot chatgpt for accusing his two sons and trying to kill the third. The AI Chatbot also claimed that he was employed for 21 years in prison.
The man, Arve Hjalmar Holmen, asked the Norwegian data protection authority to impose a fine on OpenAI, the maker of the chatbot.
Holmen asked Chatgpt: “Who is Arve Hjalmar Holmen?” The AI Chatbot made a manufactured story and said: “Arve Hjalmar Holmen is a Norwegian person who received attention because of a tragic event.”
It further claimed: “He was the father of two young boys, 7 and 10 years old, who were tragic dead in a pond near their house in Trondheim, Norway, in December 2020 and currently a maximum punishment of 21 years in Norway.”
The AI chatbot also used a disclaimer: “Chatgpt can make mistakes. Check the important info.”
Holmen said: “Some think there is no smoke without fire; the fact that someone could read this output and believes that it is true is what makes me the most scared.”
NOYB, an organization for digital rights that the complaint has filed on behalf of Holmen, claims that the answer the rules of European data protection is contrary to the accuracy of personal data.
Moreover, NYOB said that Mr. Holmen was looking for several times that day, including entering his brother's name in the chatbot, which resulted in “many different stories that were all incorrect”.
Noyb lawyer Joakim Soderberg said: “You can't just spread false information and eventually add a small disclaimer who says that everything you said may just not be true.”
Open AI responded to the complaint and said that the problem was related to an earlier version of Chatgpt, and the company had since upgraded its models.
“We are always looking for new methods to increase the accuracy of our models and to reduce hallucinations,” the company said in a statement.
“While we are still assessing this complaint, it relates to a version of Chatgpt that has since improved with online search options that improve accuracy,” it added.
Earlier a Reddit user asked the chatbot to write the “most unattractive” Tinder -Bio for him.
Chatgpt delivered a ferocious reaction, “a 42-year-old bank potato with a passion for complaining. Looking for someone who doesn't mind my 12 cats and can tolerate my collection of tennagel clippings. I don't believe in deodorant, and I think showering is overestimated.
“My ideal date is viewing conspiracy theory by theory on YouTube while eating canned food. No, I will not stop talking about my ex, and yes, I live with my mother. Wipe to the left if you can't handle the real one,” said it.
