A Chinese spy balloon that passed the United States last year was full of American technology that had enabled it to spy on Americans, Newsweek Reported, stating sources with direct knowledge of a technical analysis carried out by the US Army. The enormous balloon with a large load of electronics flew from the end of January to the beginning of February in 2023 from Alaska in the northwest of South Carolina in the east in 2023, which was crossed over sensitive military installations and was concerned about vital intelligence. The balloon was shot by the US near the coast of South Carolina and was restored by the US Army from the Atlantic Ocean.
Now, a year later, it has been revealed that the balloon technology was wore at least five American companies. It contained a satellite communication module, sensors and other advanced monitoring equipment.
At that time, China said it was a metrological balloon that was blown out of the race due to strong wind. However, Newsweek Reported that the technical payload has equipped the balloon to investigate, take photos and collect their intelligence data. The balloon may also have carried launchable gliders that could collect more detailed data because it had empty storage bays, according to the exhaust.
In particular, the technology identified competitions awarded in a patent in 2022 to scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Aerospace Information Research Institute in Beijing. It is said that the patent contained a short burst report module called Iridium 9602 made by Iridium, a global satellite communication provider based in Virginia. It was entitled “a high -altitude of balloon safety control and the positioning of the recovery device and the method”.

From the analysis of the material that was recovered from the balloon, it showed that it had included an iridium communication system and technology from four other American companies and at least one Swiss company. The other American companies whose parts have been identified in the balloon are – Texas Instruments, Omega Engineering in Connecticut, Amphenol All Sensors Corporation and Onsemi, according to the outlet.
In the meantime, the US had said that the balloon was part of a large-scale surveillance program that China manages in dozens of countries. However, China has repeated that the balloon was accidentally over the US.
“The wandering of the Chinese bourgeois unmanned airship in the American airspace was an accident caused by force majeure. The airship, which was used for meteorological examination, unintentionally drained in us because of the Western and the limited self -covering. China had made these details available to The American side, after serious verification and in the shortest possible time, “a Chinese spokesperson told The Outlet.
