New Delhi:
Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has posted a detailed thread about the recent changes to his team and why he’s implemented them at a time when the microblogging site will be taken over by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The lengthy post came a day after Twitter fired two senior executives and Mr. Musk announced that the $44 billion deal from him acquiring the site is currently on hold as he awaits data on fake accounts.
A lot has happened in the past few weeks. I was focused on the business and didn’t say much in public at the time, but I will now.

Mr Agrawal said “some have asked why a ‘lame-duck’ CEO would make changes if we are taken over anyway”.
Yesterday we announced changes to our leadership team and operations. Changes that affect people are always difficult. And some have wondered why a “lame-duck” CEO would make these changes if we’re taken over anyway. The short answer is very simple:

“The short answer is very simple: While I expect the deal to close, we must be prepared for all scenarios and always do what is right for Twitter. I am responsible for leading and managing Twitter, and our job is to a stronger Twitter every day.” he tweeted.
No one at Twitter just works to keep the lights on. We are proud of our work. Regardless of the future ownership of the company, here we are improving Twitter as a product and business for customers, partners, shareholders and all of you.

The Twitter CEO added that he “will not use the deal as an excuse to avoid major decisions”.
People have also asked: why manage costs now versus after closing? Our industry is currently in a very challenging macro environment. I won’t use the deal as an excuse to avoid making important decisions for the health of the company, and neither will any leader at Twitter.

Mr Agrawal went on to add that he is “focused on doing the job” and you can expect more change for the better.
So what can you expect from me in the future? I’m still focused on work, and that includes making hard decisions when needed. I will continue to embrace the deep complexity of our service and business. And you can expect more change for the better.

He added that he “will try to bring more transparency to the work we do”. “You won’t see tweets from me about the ‘topic of the day’ or the loudest sound bite, but rather the ongoing, continuous and challenging work our teams are doing to improve public conversation on Twitter,” he wrote.
He also thanked his team for staying focused and agile.
Finally, many thanks to our entire Twitter team. They were strong and focused, sharp and agile. They did the job, as they always have. Forward.
