Newly-elected US President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, said on Saturday that she has withdrawn her name from consideration for a Senate seat. Mrs. Trump, who is married to Donald Trump's son Eric Trump, resigned this month as co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), fueling speculation that she could replace retiring Senator Marco Rubio of Florida.
President-elect Trump has selected Rubio as Secretary of State. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will choose Rubio's replacement, who is expected to step down as senator when Trump takes office on January 20.
Lara Trump wrote to She said she wished Florida Governor DeSantis the best of luck in choosing a replacement for the remainder of Rubio's six-year term ending in 2026.
“I could not have been more honored to serve as co-chair of the RNC during the highest-stakes election of our lives, and I am truly humbled by the incredible support the people of our country have shown me, and here in the great state of Florida,” she posted.

She said she plans to share a “big announcement” in January, but gave no details. Mrs. Trump added that she remains passionate about public service and looks forward to serving again in the future.
While DeSantis noted there was already strong interest from potential candidates, he said last month that a selection would likely take place in early January.
Mrs. Trump, born Lara Lea Yunaska on October 12, 1982, is an American television producer, campaign advisor and former television host. She was elected co-chair of the RNC in March, cementing her father-in-law's influence on the party as he campaigned for president.
She, along with her husband Eric Trump and brother-in-law Don Jr., emerged as one of the top campaign surrogates for the Republican candidate in the run-up to the election.
