Philippines:
A strong earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale rocked the Philippines early Thursday, the US Geological Survey said.
The shallow earthquake struck the island province of Masbate in the center of the archipelago shortly after 2 a.m. local time (1800 GMT).
The earthquake’s epicenter was 11 kilometers (7 miles) from the nearest village.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties and no tsunami warning was issued.
