India's comments came a day after Iran fired about 200 missiles at Israel
New Delhi:
In its first response to the new escalation of tensions in West Asia, India on Wednesday called for restraint from all sides and said the conflict should not take on a broader regional dimension.
India's comments came a day after Iran fired about 200 rockets at Israel in response to Israel's killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and other commanders of the militant group.
New Delhi said it is deeply concerned about the escalating security situation in West Asia and called for all issues to be addressed through “dialogue and diplomacy”.
“We are deeply concerned about the escalation of the security situation in West Asia and reiterate our call for restraint by all stakeholders and protection of civilians,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
“It is important that the conflict does not take on a broader regional dimension and we insist that all issues are addressed through dialogue and diplomacy,” the report said in a statement.
