An investigation released Wednesday found that Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s office often violated Britain’s coronavirus restrictions, increasing pressure on his government.
The report, prepared by a senior British official, Sue Gray, contained evidence that Mr Johnson attended a birthday party for him in 2020, in violation of his own government’s Covid rules.
It also found that dozens of people had attended parties that were banned under UK social distancing rules at the time.
An earlier edited version of the report described an office culture where alcohol consumption was rampant. The full report released on Wednesday said Downing Street had changed some of its practices to address that problem.
