Washington:
A former CIA agent was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in prison for drugging and sexually abusing more than two dozen women in several countries. Brian Jeffrey Raymond, 48, of La Mesa, California, pleaded guilty in November 2023 to one count of sexual abuse and other charges.
“While this predator was employed by the government, he lured unsuspecting women into his government-rented homes and supplied them with narcotics,” said Matthew Graves, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.
“After drugging these women, he undressed them, sexually assaulted them and photographed them,” Graves said in a statement.
Nicole Argentieri, a senior Justice Department official, said Raymond “sexually exploited dozens of women over 14 years.”
According to court documents, Raymond's last base was Mexico City, where he drugged and sexually abused several women.
The FBI said in an October 2021 call for information that its investigation into Raymond began on May 31, 2020, when a naked woman was seen screaming for help from the balcony of his Mexico City home.
Hundreds of photos and videos were found on Raymond's electronic devices, showing at least 24 unconscious and (partially) naked women.
Raymond worked for the CIA for many years, the FBI said. He had lived in several countries, including Peru, and was fluent in Spanish and Mandarin.
From August 2018 to May 2020, he worked at the US Embassy in Mexico.
