Cairo:
Hamas said on Thursday there was no need for new proposals for a ceasefire in Gaza and that pressure should be brought to bear on Israel to agree to a US plan that the Islamist group has already accepted.
The United States was expected to present a new ceasefire proposal aimed at breaking the impasse between Hamas and Israel.
Hamas said in a statement that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tried to thwart an agreement by insisting that Israel not withdraw from the Philadelphia corridor in southern Gaza.
“We warn against falling into Netanyahu's traps and tricks, as he uses negotiations to prolong the aggression against our people,” the statement said.
Hamas said it had accepted a July 2 US proposal
