London:
A 41-year-old woman of Indian descent has been sentenced to four years and eight months in prison by a British court for her role in a large-scale conspiracy to supply drugs into the country.
Mandeep Kaur, from North London, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply Class A or banned drugs after a two-week trial by a majority jury and a unanimous jury of conspiracy to possess criminal property at Aylesbury Crown Court, sitting in Amersham.
Mandeep Kaur was sentenced last week following an investigation by the South East Regional Organized Crime Unit (SEROCU), which works with several police forces across Britain.
The unit discovered that Mandeep Kaur was involved in activities as a cash and drug courier for a Buckinghamshire-based organized crime group (OCG). She was found to have made a number of trips for a criminal group responsible for supplying cocaine in the UK.
“Kaur’s involvement with the OCG in this case was significant. She voluntarily supplied and collected criminal money at the behest of a senior member of the group,” said SEROCU Investigative Officer Dale Lester.
“On one occasion, she went the extra mile and moved a kilogram of cocaine — acts she did of her own free will for financial gain. This conviction is a demonstration of SEROCU’s continued commitment to tackling and dismantling organized crime in the Southeast. the country and further afield,” he said.
During the trial, Mandeep Kaur was found to have delivered a kilo of cocaine on June 13, 2020, he was arrested three days later and was in possession of a bag containing £50,000 in cash.
