Meta Platform Inc’s Instagram said the company was aware that some people were having trouble accessing the app on Sunday after users worldwide complained about service interruptions.
The company did not disclose the number of users affected by the outage, but the outage tracking website Downdetector.com showed more than 100,000 incidents in the United States, 24,000 in Canada and more than 56,000 incidents in Britain.
“We are working to get everything back to normal as soon as possible and apologize for the inconvenience,” the company’s spokesperson said in an email, without releasing further details about the outage.
More than 180,000 users reported problems accessing Instagram at the height of the outage.
According to outage logging website Downdetector.com, which tracks outages by compiling status reports from various sources, including users, Instagram was down for users on Sunday.
