Amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, a video has surfaced online showing an Israeli soldier singing the country’s national anthem in a house destroyed by the Palestinian group. The clip was shared by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday. The soldier, who was trying to come to terms with the barbaric act of terror unleashed by Hamas operatives on October 7, sang his national anthem “Hatikvah” and played the piano in a house destroyed by the Palestinian group.
“In a destroyed house in a community under attack by Hamas terrorists, a soldier sings the Israeli national anthem. Hamas will not corrupt our minds,” IDF wrote in the caption.

The war broke out after Hamas stormed into Israel from the Gaza Strip, taking more than 200 hostages and killing at least 1,400 people. Since then, Israel has laid siege to Gaza and cut off supplies of water, electricity, fuel and food, causing chronic shortages. The country also launched a bombing campaign that has leveled entire city blocks in Gaza, killing more than 4,000 Palestinians so far.
Israel has also outlined three phases in its war against Hamas, at the end of which it plans to establish a “new security regime” in the Gaza Strip. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the initial and current phase of ceaseless attacks on Palestinian territory would be followed by “neutralizing terrorists and destroying Hamas’ infrastructure.”

The next phase will not last “a day, nor a week, nor a month,” Gallant told parliament’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. He said the ultimate goal is to remove any responsibility Israel has over Gaza by creating a new “security regime” in the region. “The military campaign will create a new security reality for the citizens of Israel,” he said.
It is striking that last week the Israeli army ordered more than a million residents of northern Gaza to flee to the south. This led Palestinians to claim that the army was seeking permanent mass displacement of residents.
