Navaratri is a biennial Hindu festival celebrated in honor of Goddess Durga. It spans nine nights, first in the month of Chaitra (March/April), and again in the month of Ashvin (September-October).
Tensions between the two countries escalated after Mr. Trudeau publicly raised suspicions last month that Indian agents were involved in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was shot dead by unknown gunmen in a Vancouver suburb on June 18. India dismissed the accusation as absurd and both countries expelled a diplomat.
India also suspended new visas for Canadians and asked Ottawa to reduce its diplomatic presence in India.
Mr. Trudeau later said Canada had no intention of escalating the dispute.
“We take this very seriously, but we will continue to work with the Government of India in a responsible and constructive manner,” he said.
The Canadian Prime Minister came under massive attack online for discussing India with several world leaders following his recent discussion on India’s ties with the King of Jordan and the UAE President.
Meanwhile, an exclusive investigation by NDTV revealed that Justin Trudeau’s ratings hit an all-time low after he made the allegations about India’s involvement in Nijjar’s death.
