Panic ensued at a Singapore casino after a man suffered a heart attack while celebrating his 3.2 million pound (Rs 33,76,45,600) jackpot. According to news.com.au, the incident happened on June 22 at the Marina Bay Sands Casino in Singapore. The unnamed man, a regular visitor to the casino, was overjoyed after winning the life-changing amount. While he was celebrating and punching the air in pure joy, he suddenly fell to the ground and went into cardiac arrest.
As he collapsed, shocked bystanders gathered around him as staff rushed to his aid. A woman accompanying the man became increasingly concerned and was heard pleading with staff as they attempted to provide medical aid. He was rushed to hospital, where he is recovering from cardiac arrest.
Meanwhile, many social media posts suggested the man died, but industry insiders said the man is alive and still recovering in hospital.
A spokesperson for the casino condemned the false reporting and emphasized the suffering it has caused the man's family. “Unfortunately, the fake news has spread and the video that is still circulating online is causing some unrest among the guest's family,” he said. Some sources have also disputed the amount the gambler won, but there is no official clarity on this yet.
The casino is owned and operated by Las Vegas Sands, a Nevada-based company that generated $10.4 billion in revenue last year.
In a similar incident in 2021, a man in Michigan, US, was found dead on a beach with the winning ticket in his pocket. A similar unfortunate incident happened in the US in April after a man went into cardiac arrest while sitting at a blackjack table in Las Vegas.
