The short seller Hindenburg investigation based in the US, which was concluded the presidential election weeks after Joe Biden lost in January, was confronted with a determined counterattack of Adani Group, which the short seller had focused in January 2023.
The Hindenburg report only came out for a few days before Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani was in Israel to complete a $ 1.2 billion deal to acquire the Haifa Seaport. The winning bid came from a joint venture between Gadot Masofim for Chemicals LTD and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone LTD, where the Indian company kept the majority interest.
The bids, evaluations and approvals for the privatization of the port of Haifa had taken 18 long months – and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was present at the signing on January 31, 2023.

The announcement of Hindenburg that it will be closed had asked questions about the damage it has done to investors in India. Founder Nate Anderson, the founder of Hindenburg, called the short seller the projects that handled it.
Senior lawyer Sidharth Luthra had told DailyExpertNews that Mr Anderson decides to dissolve that Hindenburg, even after the Supreme Court ordered all agencies that were relevant to the issue to view the issue.
Political analyst Rajat Sethi said that the foreign company that was active outside India's jurisdiction tried to influence the market of India and that led to loss of investors.
More critical questions were asked after Mr Anderson's announcement. Does the dissolution of Hindenburg the shoot and scoot the nature of the organization? What does it say about those who believe in the Hindenburg report? Was it a conspiracy of the deep state and foreign elements? Can Hindenburg still be punished? Or was it a major foreign interference in the 'India Story'?
Rajya Sabha MP and senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani had claimed that the dissolution of Hindenburg had indicated significant implications, and suggested a possible check by the American authorities or fear of research in the target of Adani Group companies.
Jethmalani connected the development to the “democratic deep condition” led by billionaire George Soros and called it an act of “economic terrorism” aimed at destabilization of India.
Adani Group -chairman Gautam Adani during the annual General Meeting in June 2024 said that the group was “confronted with unfounded accusations of a foreign short seller who questioned our decades of hard work.”
