The American vice-president JD Vance, who is on a four-day India trip, arrived in Jaipur together with his family, where he visited a UNESCO World Heritage Location on Tuesday. During his stay in the Pink City, the Vice President and his family will probably also visit other popular monuments such as Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and meet dignitaries, including the Prime Minister and Governor of Rajasthan.
In an exclusive interview with Our, the second lady of the United States and the wife of the American Vice President Usha Vance spoke about countless subjects, including her three children -Ewan, Vivek and Mirabbel, their interest in the Ramayana and Mahabharata, on JD VANCE's cooking skills.
On their children
She said that although her family comes from Andhra Pradesh, her children have never been to India, “they read Indian history, so they have a feeling of who would have been historical here,” she also added that the children of Indian keep food and that “they can eat Indian eating all the time.”
About the cooking skills of JD Vance
She also gave a glimpse into her kitchen and said that JD Vance, despite the fact that he had a 'vegetarian household', is an 'experimental cook' and tried Indian dishes such as Chana Masala and lamb shells. She spoke about how her family has always been cooking, “my mother and grandmother are excellent chefs, my father makes very good dosa” and added that they get all the ingredients from Indian stores.
At their wedding
As from an Indian family, she said it was important for her to have a traditional Hindu ceremony marriage because her parents had one, and although they got married in Kentucky, their wedding embodied both backgrounds.
When visiting the PM Modi home
They enjoyed a puppet show in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home, about a story from the Ramayana, and she said that the dolls caught the children's attention. “Andhra pradesh leather flat dolls against shadow screens blew their minds!”
On their first visit to India
The second lady of the United States also said that this visit will be the first visit for her husband in India and said it is “special”. “It is a country that grows, that is young and lively and I think he was very impressed by what he read about India, the culture and trajectory,” she added.
Visiting Amer Fort was another spectacular moment for the family: “We were impressed by the greeting, my children were caught by dancing and described it last night!”
The Vance family was welcomed in the traditional Rajasthani style by two elephants-mentioned Chanda and Pushpa, which were trained in Hathi Gaon near Amber because of their welcome.
She added: “This is a journey of your life. I have been to India, but it is something I want to share with my nuclear family.”
The Vance family leaves for Agra on Wednesday morning and then returns to Jaipur in the afternoon, because he is planned to visit the city palace here. They will leave for the US early Thursday morning.
Vance, who arrived in India on Monday, held broad conversations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi yesterday. The two leaders discussed ways to improve cooperation in the field of defense, energy and technologies.
PM Modi also organized the Vance family during dinner in his 7 Lok Kalyan Marg Residence after the official conversations.
