Nuwakot:
Electricity production at the Nuwakot hydroelectric plant in Nepal has come to a halt after a person climbed and clung to a high-voltage cable.
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) was forced to halt the electricity project and cut power to the Upper Trishuli 3A Hydel station line after a person climbed onto the transmission line in Nuwakot.
The Upper Trishuli 3A Hydel station has a capacity of 60 MW.
The person has been identified by local police as Maila BK from Ghalegaun of Belkotgadhi-13 Municipality of Nuwakot District.
“BK is clinging to the transmission cables after 10 a.m. (NST), so we have cut the power supply,” spokesman Suresh Bhattarai confirmed to ANI by telephone.
According to the NEA official, the country has suffered an average loss of about 1 million Nepalese rupees due to the power outage.
Meanwhile, the Energy Minister, Pampha Bhusal, has also called on the Nepalese military to deploy a helicopter to take the person off the transmission line and take it down and prevent further loss.
