Prince Harry, his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex and her mother, Doria Ragland, were involved in a “near catastrophic” car chase in New York on Tuesday night while being followed by paparazzi, a spokesman said.
“Last night the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Mrs Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a group of very aggressive paparazzi,” a statement said.
“This relentless pursuit, which lasted more than two hours, resulted in multiple near misses involving other road users, pedestrians and two NYPD officers.”
The statement did not specify where the chase took place, but Meghan was in New York to attend the Women of Vision Awards, at the Ziegfeld Ballroom, where she was one of the honorees. The location is in Midtown Manhattan, an area of the city that normally has a lot of traffic.
The New York Police Department said it had no reports of a car chase involving the prince and Meghan in the area, and there were no reports of injuries or an accident. There were no immediate details about the incident.
This is an evolving story.
