St. Sophia’s Cathedral in Kiev was on the UNESCO World Heritage List
Kiev, Ukraine:
The United Nations cultural organization on Friday put the World Heritage sites in the Ukrainian cities of Kiev and Lviv on the “in danger” list, saying they are at risk from the war sparked by Russia’s invasion of the country.
The decision, taken at the annual meeting of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee in Riyadh, is the first step towards exclusion from the agency’s World Heritage List, which has 1,157 sites.
