Mohammad Zahoor helped purchase two jets for the Ukrainian Air Force.

Pakistani billionaire Mohammad Zahoor, the former publisher of Kiev messagehas reportedly provided Ukraine with fighter jets to aid in their fight as Russia’s invasion of the eastern European country continues.

With reference to Ukraine TSN† news week Zahoor reported that Mr Zahoor’s wife, Ukrainian singer Kamaliya Zahoor, said her husband and other wealthy friends had quietly aided Ukraine in its fight against Russia. She said her husband helped buy two jets for the Ukrainian Air Force.

“(Mohammad) gave me the green light to tell this. Because they hid this one [actions]† They gave two fighter jets to Ukraine and are helping Ukraine,” she said, according to the media.

It is worth noting that since the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine, Mr Zahoor, who used to live in Ukraine and was the former owner of the Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Post, has urged the safe evacuation of Ukrainian civilians. The Pakistani-born British businessman has reportedly tried to mobilize money and help evacuate refugees to the UK and other parts of Europe. From news weekhe had also gone on to meet heads of state and other influential people to ensure safe passage for Ukrainians.

Speak with Arabic news in March, Mr Zahoor also called on the people of the world to support Ukraine and stand aside in its fight against Russian aggression. “I openly side with Ukraine, because after seeing” [reports from] Western, Ukrainian and Russian media, I can see and decide who is telling the truth. This is actually the time for everyone to stand up for Ukraine, otherwise every major country will gobble up its neighbor,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian resistance continues in the Russian-occupied territories. While Moscow has declared it to be involved in a “special military operation” to demilitarize and “denazify” its neighbor, the West and Kiev have called that a false pretext for an invasion. But Russian forces continue their main offensive, seeking to capture more territory in the eastern Donbas region, which Moscow claims on behalf of separatists.

According to ReutersRussian and Russian-backed forces still control an area of Ukraine roughly the size of Greece, along the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, and in eastern Ukraine bordering Russia. But Russian troops have been forced out of the area around the Ukrainian city of Kharkov in the northeast in the past two weeks.
