A UK Employment Tribunal has awarded a pregnant employee 93,000 pounds (about £ 1 crore) in compensation after her boss had rejected her unfairly. Mr Kabir's comments in particular came after Paula Miluska asked to work from home due to serious morning sickness. The termination message was concluded with a vague promise to “catch up with work” and a rejecting “jazz hands” emoji, with a smiling face with vast palms.
The UK Employment Tribunal admitted her 93,616.74 pound compensation after statement that her pregnancy was the reason for her unfair dismissal of Roman Property Group Limited in Birmingham.
Mrs. Miluska, an investment consultant, began to experience morning sickness after learning her pregnancy in October 2022. Due to increasing nausea, she asked to work from home, with reference to the advice of her midwife that this would be best during the peak period of pregnancy sickness .
She wrote in her text: “The midwife said it is right now if I can work from home, it is best, because these next two weeks are usually the peak of pregnancy sickness because of hormones. She also said that when I go back to The work must do a health and safety assessment. “I don't know for sure what that is.”
The tribunal judge noted that until 26 November there were “no other text messages” between the couple when Mr. Kabir asked Mrs. Miluska how she felt.
The following evening early Mr. Kabir to Mrs. Miluska whether she could work for a few days the next week, with shorter hours, but the tribunal considered this request in insincere. Despite Mr Kabir's claim that he needed her to cover his absence of vacation, the tribunal concluded that this was just a pretext and that Mrs. Miluska's pregnancy was the true reason for her termination.
