The queue to see Queen Elizabeth in state in London was temporarily closed on Friday after capacity was reached, the government said, as officials warned of wait times of at least 14 hours.
“Entry (to the queue) will be paused for at least 6 hours,” the UK culture department said on Twitter. “Try not to queue until it opens again.”
The constantly moving queue is making its way from Southwark Park in central South East London to Westminster Hall, where some 750,000 people are expected to pass the Queen’s coffin by Monday morning.
“I have no feeling at all in my knees or my legs,” said Hyacinth Appah, a London mourner who was standing in line.
“But it’s been good. Most people were nice and we had a good time.”
The queue was approximately 7.9 miles long at 0900 GMT, the culture department’s live queue tracker showed.
