London:
Supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) agitated on Sunday outside the residence of former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in London after Imran Khan was voted out of power by opposition parties.
A showdown between supporters of the Imran Khan-led PTI and PML-N turned into an arena of slander and slogans against the leadership of both sides outside the London flats of Avenfield, Nawaz Sharif’s residence.
During the demonstrations with flags of Pakistan, PTI workers chanted slogans against the impeachment of the prime minister. Meanwhile, supporters of the PML-N also reached the Avenfield flats to show solidarity with Nawaz Sharif, the party leader, ARY News reported.
To bring the situation between the two groups under control, police reached the Avenfield apartments.
“Crowd in front of Avenfield chanting ‘Terrain’s father is a thief, Qasim’s father is a thief, Salman’s father is a thief’ Terrain is Imran Khan’s love child that @ImranKhanPTI does not own even after a New York court ruling,” said Santosh Kumar Bugti, former Minister of Information PML-N Balochistan.
Imran Khan’s ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith joked about the ongoing political unrest by commenting “purana Pakistan” in one of the protest videos surfacing online. This was a clear reference to slogans uttered by opposition parties after Imran Khan’s ouster.
Prior to taking office in 2018, Imran Khan had sworn a “naya Pakistan’ — one without corruption and a prosperous economy. But over time, there were fewer and fewer users of these slogans.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday praised the passing of a vote of no confidence against Imran Khan when he asked members of the Pakistan National Assembly to mark April 10, 2022 as an important date in the history of Pakistan. the country.
Addressing Pakistani parliamentarians after the motion against Imran Khan was passed, Bilawal Zardari recalled what happened on April 10 and said on this day that Pakistan approved the 1973 constitution.
“On April 10, 1986, Benazir Bhutto ended her self-imposed exile and arrived in Lahore to start her fight against former Pakistani President Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq,” he said.
“Today [on] April 10, 2022, welcome [you] back to the purana Pakistan,” Bilawal said in the Pakistan National Assembly. “I have a message for the Pakistani youth that they should never give up on their dreams, because nothing is impossible. Democracy is the best revenge,” he added.
