China and Russia have signed a memorandum of cooperation to build an automated nuclear power plant on the Moon by 2035. The Russian space agency Roscosmos and the China National Space Administration (CNSA) signed the document earlier this month, with the power plant expected to be part of the proposed International Lunar Research Station (IILRS).

“The station will conduct fundamental space research and test technology for long-term un described activities of the ILRs, with the prospect of the presence of a person on the moon,” Roscosmos wrote in an announcement of 8 May after signing the Memorandum.

For the first time announced in 2017, ilr's involvement from countries such as Venezuela, Wit -Russia, Azerbaijan, South Africa, Egypt, Nicaragua, Thailand, Serbia, Pakistan, Senegal and Kazakhstan.

The IRLS is expected to be within 100 kilometers of the moon of the moon and have autonomous long -term operations and in the short term human missions.

“The station will conduct fundamental space research and test technology for long-term un described activities of the ILRs, with the prospect of the presence of a person on the moon,” Roscosmos said in a statement.

Yuri Borisov, the head of Roscosmos, last year, that, apart from the Chinese-Russian reactor, a nuclear driven freight spaces was also developing. He said that all technical questions about the project had been resolved, apart from finding a solution for cooling the nuclear reactor.

“We are indeed working on a jerk boat. This huge, cyclopic structure that would be able, thanks to a nuclear reactor and a powerful turbines … to transport large loads from one track to another, collect space waste and takes many other applications,” Mr Borisov said.

The announcement comes in the background of NASA that reveals a budget proposal from 2026 that the plans of the desk for an orbital lunar base would be sawing, gateway is reversalized and planned for launch in 2027. NASA's over-budget space system (SLS) built Gigantic Raket– Could also be canceled after his third mission.
