Washington:
US President Joe Biden pledged Monday to continue fighting to end America’s “epidemic” of gun violence after a deadly mass shooting at a July 4 parade in a Chicago suburb.
Biden said he and his wife Jill were “appalled at the senseless gun violence that has brought new grief to an American community on this Independence Day” after six people were killed in the massacre in Highland Park, Illinois.
“I’m not going to give up fighting the gun violence epidemic,” he said, noting that he had signed the first major gun control measures in decades into law at the end of June, but “much more work” remains.
