Washington:
Kevin McCarthy was removed from his role as speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday after a brutal overthrow by far-right Republican lawmakers enraged by his collaboration with Democrats.
For the first time in its 234-year history, the House of Representatives supported a resolution “to vacate the office of Speaker” by a vote of 216 to 210, paving the way for an unprecedented battle to replace McCarthy a year before the presidential election.
