A painting by Vincent van Gogh that was stolen from a Dutch museum in March 2020 was recovered by art detective Arthur Brand. The masterpiece was delivered to Mr.’s house in an Ikea bag by a tipster. Fire in Amsterdam.
According to a DailyExpertNews According to the report, Mr Brand had been investigating the theft of ‘The Parsonage Garden in Nuenen in Spring’, one of Van Gogh’s early works, painted in 1884. The painting was stolen while it was part of a temporary exhibition at the Singer Laren Museum, about thirty kilometers southeast of Amsterdam, where it had been on loan from the Groninger Museum in the north of the country.
Mr Brand posted a video on Instagram of himself unpacking the artwork and holding it up as he posed for the camera. Mr Brand has not revealed the identity of the tipster.
“So here it is! Vincent van Gogh’s Spring Garden was stolen from a museum in the Netherlands on Van Gogh’s birthday three and a half years ago. We looked for it for over three and a half years,” he said.
He wrote: “Vincent van Gogh is back! In close cooperation with the Dutch police, I was able to recover Van Gogh’s ‘Spring Garden’ (1884). The painting was stolen from the Singer Museum in Laren, the Netherlands, three years ago on Van Gogh’s birthday .A great day for all Van Gogh lovers worldwide…”
The painting is estimated to be worth between approximately $3.2 million and $6.4 million.
Mr. Brand said it is a “great day for all Van Gogh lovers worldwide.”
Mr. Brand said in the video, “Finally it’s here, it’s back,” and said he will return the painting to the director of the Singer Laren Museum.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Van Gogh painted ‘The parsonage garden in Nuenen in the spring’ five years before ‘The Starry Night’, one of the most famous paintings in the world. The artist lived with his parents in Nuenen at the time and painted a garden at a clergy house where his father was a minister. Van Gogh used oil paint on wooden panels.
