37-year-old taxi driver Sukhcharn ‘Sonny’ Singh.
Sukhcharn Singh, an Indian-born taxi driver who transported Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan during a “near catastrophic chase” with paparazzi in New York, has said the pair were clearly nervous during the short ride.
Speaking to BBC News, the 37-year-old, who goes by the nickname Sonny, said he had driven a block when his taxi “was blocked by a garbage truck, and suddenly the paparazzi came and started taking pictures”. He was then asked to drive the couple back to the police station.
Singh said the royals “looked nervous” about what happened, but the paparazzi were not aggressive. When asked about the spokesman’s description of the chase, he said it was “exaggerated”.
The incident involved “a ring of very aggressive paparazzi” in half a dozen cars with darkened windows, driving dangerously and endangering the lives of the couple and Doria Ragland, Harry’s spokesman said Wednesday.
Wash Mr. Singh, when asked, dazzled by his famous passengers? He replied, “I also picked up Keith Richards in my cab.”
Mr. Singh said, “I pick up celebrities all the time. I didn’t think much of it either when they came in.”
