A 10-year-old was trying to rescue one of the teachers at Rob Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, when a teenager rained bullets into a classroom full of students. Khloie Torres was one of the students who saw the injured woman, according to a DailyExpertNews report on newly revealed 911 call.
“There are a lot of bodies,” Torres told a 911 dispatcher NYT report while locked in a classroom.
“I don’t want to die, my teacher is dead, my teacher is dead, please send help, send help for my teacher, she was shot but still alive,” the student said, according to the report.
The call was recorded at 12:10 am, 37 minutes after the gunman started shooting in the classrooms and 40 minutes before police broke through the classroom door and killed the gunman.
Khloie was one of two students who called 911 from the two adjacent classrooms where the gunman, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, had been holed up. Twenty-one people were killed in one of the worst mass shootings in US history, 19 of them students.
Police have faced strong criticism from the children’s parents and other people for their reaction to Tuesday’s shooting. The Texas Rangers and the U.S. Department of Justice have stated that they cannot draw conclusive conclusions until all interviews have been completed and all video and other information has been examined. DailyExpertNews reported.
Officers from at least 14 agencies arrived on the scene but did not enter the classrooms, despite continuous shooting inside and 911 calls from youths.
