US President Donald Trump and the Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are expected to speak this week, said civil servants on Sunday, while the European allies of Washington and Kyiv Moscow press on Moscow to accept a ceasefire in the three-year war.
The United States presented a stop this week in the war after conversations in Saudi Aarabia, where Kiev accepted the proposal.
However, Putin did not give a clear answer, instead list a series of conditions and collect “serious questions” about the proposition.
Trump's envoy for the conflict, Steve Witkoff, who met Putin days ago, told DailyExpertNews in an interview on television that he thinks “the two presidents will have a really good and positive discussion this week.”
Earlier, the Moscow said that the American State Secretary Marco Rubio called his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and that the couple had discussed “concrete aspects of the implementation of insights” last month at a US-Rorsland-Top in Saudi Arabia.
