Newly elected US President Donald Trump on Saturday demanded that BRICS member states commit not to create a new currency or support another currency that would replace the US dollar, otherwise 100% tariffs would apply.
“We need a commitment from these countries that they will neither create a new BRICS currency nor support any other currency to replace the mighty US dollar, otherwise they will face 100% tariffs and expect to say goodbye taking sales in the beautiful USA. Economy,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
“They can look for another 'sucker'. There is no chance that the BRICS will replace the US dollar in international trade, and any country that tries to do so should say goodbye to America.”
