54-year-old “Friends” star Matthew Perry passed away last October.
Los Angeles:
A California doctor and a woman accused of illegally supplying the drug ketamine to “Friends” star Matthew Perry before he died of an overdose are due to appear in court in March, according to court documents released Tuesday.
Dr. Salvador Plasencia and Jasveen Sangha, who authorities say was a drug dealer known to customers as the “ketamine queen,” have pleaded not guilty to charges related to Perry’s October 2023 death.
An autopsy found the 54-year-old man died from the “acute effects” of ketamine and other factors that caused him to lose consciousness and drown in his hot tub.
Ketamine is a short-acting anesthetic with hallucinogenic properties. It is sometimes prescribed to treat depression and anxiety, but recreational users also abuse it.
Perry had publicly acknowledged that he suffered from drug abuse for decades, including during the years he played Chandler Bing on the popular 1990s sitcom “Friends.”
Plasencia and Sangha are scheduled to appear together in federal court in Los Angeles starting March 4.
Three other suspects have pleaded guilty to Perry's death.
