A US-based orthodontist and well-known influencer recently said she is “so grateful to be here” after suffering an electric shock from downed power lines during her trip to Thailand last month. Taking to Instagram, Dr Cara Hodgson revealed she had spent the last ten days in hospital. She wrote that during her trip to Thailand she was electrocuted by high-voltage power lines, suffered a blackout and was then rushed to hospital. “In the blink of an eye, it can all be taken away from you. Thank goodness I'm here, 2024. Life is so precious. One second you have it, and the next second it can just be taken away from you,” the doctor says. wrote in her post.
“I had a freak accident during my trip and was electrocuted by power lines. I ended up blacking out and was rushed to the emergency room in Thailand. It was the worst ten days of my life: going in and out of hospitals , fighting to regain my strength and fighting for my life. I'm so lucky to be here today,” she added.
Ms Hodgson, who has more than 25,600 Instagram followers, gave no details of what exactly happened or how she was electrocuted. But she emphasized that she is “lucky to be here today.” “What a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love… just to be alive, to be able to breathe, to eat, to talk, to move your body, is something great and something to be celebrated ,” she wrote.
Separately, the orthodontist said in an Instagram story that she's not out of the woods yet. “There will be a lot of upcoming doctor appointments, big lifestyle changes, I need to regain my strength and weight and I need a lot of help to recover from the PTSD of it all,” she said, according to the New York Post. “There are still unanswered questions, but I'm so grateful to be here,” she added.

Ms Hodgson shared the health update two days ago and her post has since gained more than 1,800 likes. In the comments section, users expressed their support and wished her speedy recovery.
