Pakistan’s former information minister, Fawad Chaudhry, made a sprint of his life on Tuesday to avoid another arrest by storming into the building of a high court here.
Fawad Chaudhry of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had been detained under the Ordinance on Maintaining Public Order in the wake of violent protests by his party’s supporters following the arrest of Imran Khan last week and had applied for an acquittal at the Supreme Court of Islamabad (IHC).
haha! “Takkar Ke Log”. Fawad Chaudhry ran back to the high court after looking at the police. The so-called warriors of “Haqeeqi Azadi”! 😂 Zardari was right when he said “Imran Ka Zawaal Shuru”. Tank ke agay laitna nahi tha?pic.twitter.com/92HI7zMxYj

Judge Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, after hearing the plea, ordered his release after submitting a pledge that he would not participate in or incite any violent protest, prompting a triumphant Chaudhry to saunter out without waiting for the issuance of a written order by the court.
The escape drama involving the former minister dressed in traditional salwar kameez was revealed when, after getting into his white SUV to head home, he felt police officers approaching him.
TV footage showed Chaudhry running from the vehicle and running to the courthouse entrance. He was seen bent over and panting when a lawyer came to help him. Someone in the background is heard saying “bring him water” and another voice jokes that he is “about to pass out”.
Rule of the jungle. After being released by IHC, the police try to illegally arrest Fawad again. There are obviously spoilers that don’t want a national consensus to be reached, or these calls for dialogue mean nothing. Which one is it?

“She [tried] to arrest again,” his wife Hiba said on Twitter.
Chaudhry later informed Justice Aurangzeb that the police were trying to arrest him despite bail given by the court. In response, the judge provided proverbial cold consolation. “You should have waited for the written order, since you are a practitioner (lawyer) yourself,” the judge said.
In the end, the minister received great relief when the same judge ordered the authorities to arrest Chaudhry in any case late that evening.
