On the witness bank after five years, the former actress Jessica Mann cried when she told a jury in New York how embarrassed Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein reportedly raped her in a hotel room from 2013.
Mrs Mann, now 38, sobbed when she told the alleged attack in the Doubletree Hotel in Midtown on 18 March 2013. She described how Weinstein kept her imprisoned in the room, inject herself with a substance she later taught, was used to treat erectile dysfunction and then force penetrating sex on her.
“This is about the moment when I just gave it,” she said, remembering how Harvey Weinstein reportedly blocked the door and asked her to undress, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
After the meeting, Mrs. Mann said that she found a needle in the waste labeled with a word that looked like 'necro-bike'.
“I discovered on Google that it actually meant 'dead penis',” she told the jury and explained how the medication could only be used a limited number of times. “I was crazy. Am I exposed to something? It was scary.”
Despite the traumatic incident, Mrs. Mann testified that she then continued a complex relationship with Harvey Weinstein. “I just decided to have a relationship with him. I am sorry if that is a bad decision. I just did. I just wanted to buy time because I really didn't know how to deal with it,” she said, crying in the stand.
She described Harvey Weinstein as “Dr. Jekyll and MR Hyde”, referring to the 19th-century Gothic Horror Novelle about an appearance respectable man who commits shocking crimes.
“Sometimes he validated me so much … but the word” no “was like a trigger for him. This other personality, I called it” the monster side, “would come true,” she said.
Before the rape incident 2013, Mrs. Mann said that Weinstein had previously performed unwanted oral sex on her during their first private meeting in Los Angeles. She told the jury that he invited her and a friend in his hotel room to the pretext to give them a script Vampire Academy.
Once alone with her in the bedroom, Mrs. Mann said that Harvey Weinstein forced herself on her despite her resistance and the meeting described as a 'fight'. Although shaken, Mrs. Mann testified that she then decided to enter into a relationship with him, hoping that it would understand the traumatic experience. “I just thought it would take the pain away,” she said in court.
Mrs. Mann said that she feared at the time because of his influence and his powerful connections, also with former US President Bill Clinton. “I remember that if I ever said something, he would call his friend and the secret service would come and get me,” she said, according to the NY post.
Mrs. Mann added that she never accepted money from Harvey Weinstein. “It just felt like you were trying to pay me like a dirty prostitute. I never wanted his dirty money. I was not for sale.”
After the conviction of Harvey Weinstein 2020, where he was found guilty of third -degree rape against Mrs Mann – was destroyed. He is now confronted with a maximum of 25 years in prison if he is convicted for the most serious rape levy with regard to Mrs Mann's account.
Jessica Mann is the third and last prosecutor who testified in the new process. Earlier, former teenage model Kaja Sokola and former production assistant Miriam “Mimi” also took the position, which claimed similar attacks by Harvey Weinstein. Public prosecutors present each of the testimonies of these women, not only for the specific charges, but also to show a pattern of predatory behavior.
The 73-year-old has not guilty of all charges.
