Bombay:
Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi and the national chairman of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), will meet Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar in Mumbai on Thursday.
Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday evening.
The two prime ministers met President Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) at his residence here on Wednesday to seek support for the AAP’s fight against the Union government’s ordinance for the control of services in Delhi.
After meeting with Uddhav Thackeray, Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the regulation means that Narendra Modi’s government does not believe in the Supreme Court.
He also said that state governments were overthrown by using the CBI and the ED.
The center issued an ordinance last Friday to create an authority for the transfer and secondment of Group-A officers in Delhi, with the AAP government calling the move a deception with the Supreme Court ruling on the control of services .
The ordinance, which came a week after the Supreme Court transferred control of services in Delhi except police, public order and land to the elected government, aims to establish a National Capital Civil Service Authority for the transfer of and disciplinary procedures to Group- An officer of the DANICS cadre.
Mr Thackeray supported Mr Kejriwal and said the Supreme Court order was important for democracy.
“We have come together to defeat those who are against democracy. If we miss the train this time, there will be no democracy in the country. We have come together to save the country and the constitution,” Thackeray said.
On Tuesday, Mr Kejriwal and Mr Mann met with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata as part of their nationwide tour to garner support for the AAP’s fight against the Centre’s ordinance.
