MARRAKECH: Members of the IMF are working overtime to draft a communiqué at the end of the meeting, amid concerns among European countries over the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and demands from China to discuss the issue of higher quotas.
While the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors managed to issue a communiqué, after leaders in New Delhi worked out acceptable language, some European countries are uncomfortable with the language used in the IMF communiqué. A source said China is also dissatisfied with the lack of discussion on the reworking of the quotas, which will give the country a larger vote share. India and the US, along with several European countries, do not appear to be in favor of this move.
