Young lead-off hitter Prithvi Shaw found no place in the Indian squad for the upcoming two-game T20I series against Ireland. The BCCI has named a 17-man squad on Wednesday for the two T20Is, to be played in Malahide on June 26 and 28. Hardik Pandya, who led Gujarat Titans to the IPL 2022 title last month, will be India’s first captain, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named vice-captain. While Rahul Tripathi also earned his first India call-up, there was no place for Shaw in the squad. Fans took to Twitter to sympathize with the young batter, who last played for India on the Sri Lanka whiteball tour in July 2021.
Here’s how Twitter responded:
“Still no Prithvi Shaw even for the Ireland tour, a tough decision,” one fan tweeted.
